Thanks for your feedback . Can you be more specific what guidance is recommended. I ask as the original guidance indicates a ratio of 20% discussion & 80% practical riding. If this is to be achieved we need to explore how to get their, Do you and 'Steer Greeves' have any suggestions on this matter ??

I would like to question User comment Level3 , No need foe Diagrams' As part of a child's learning process they listen ,look & practice . We always use a diagram of a Tee Junction to best describe primary position , as you know this position is not always the 'Middle of the lane' as some have stated, its dynamic and is actually the middle of the car or vehicle, try explaining that to a child without a diagram. Suggest a combination of different teaching techniques . I will still continue to use a diagram ..........

I notice that their has not been a job advertised on this page for some time. Should we remove this from the forum or better place it with a link to a more appropriate location within the Bikeability sector ??

Describe it how it is ' Primary Position' then show them on a diagram, & best of all show them on the road.

Isobel Can you please clarify the DOT position on issuing certificates that you refer to in your response above. I note that some ITOs are issuing different certificates and badges as stated by user 48766 above, is this acceptable ?? ......

I think this problem is not with the issue of SENs it with the issue of 'Inclusion' .
I have had a number of schools that think children should be included in road training at level 2 when they are not judged by an instructor as safe to progress. This comes from the mistaken impression that schools can somehow browbeat an instructor using the: 'We have a fully inclusive school policy in force at or school' argument. It is also borne out of grey areas within Bikeability that indicate that 'Taking Part' is the main criteria in issuing a certificate as it states this on the certificate. We need to think about this and let head teachers know within our procedures that some children will not progress to road training due to ability.
